When it is the appropriate time and place, the holding on muscles (called the pelvic floor muscles) will let go and the bladder muscle will contract, and urine will flow from the urethra.
As soon as the bladder is empty, the bladder muscle will relax and the holding on muscle will contract, helping the bladder to start with the storing phase of urine.
