Double M.O.P.

Adding an oil-retention enema at night with the regular enema in the morning.

More Tricks in the bag if you are stalling out on M.O.P. Plus. Here are two more remedies that help some children:

• Solid glycerine suppositories. If your child has not achieved that “spontaneous poop” and oil retention enemas do not seem to help much, it is reasonable to use a solid glycerine suppository in the morning to kick-start the colon.

• An oral clean-out. I do not recommend high-dose Miralax or magnesium citrate clean-outs as a replacement for enemas, but when M.O.P. Plus is not producing results, an occasional clean-out might be worthwhile.
